Tips on renting a dumpster in Kittanning, PA
Does the waste & debris get recycled?
An increasing number of dumpster rental companies are offering recycling services due the growing number of recycling facilities popping up around the country. A typical materials recovery facility is able to process paper, metals, plastics, concrete, masonry, roofing shingles, amongst other materials.
Ask your dumpster provider if they offer recycling and if so, what’s required to participate. Typically you’ll need to keep recyclables in a separate container, referred to as a “clean load.”
All materials and debris that isn’t recyclable will be dropped off at municipal landfills, construction and demolition (C&D) landfills or waste-to-energy (WTE) plants.
How many days do I get to keep the trash dumpster on site?
One week is a standard rental period, although it’s not uncommon to find some dumpster rental companies that offer 14-day rentals included in the price. Some may even charge a daily fee for rental, which could end up being a better deal in cases where you only need the container on site for a day or two.
If you need a dumpster for longer than the rental period, you can request it for longer and pay a “late fee” of typically $5 or $10 per day. Many rental companies cap the maximum length of the rental due to inventory issues. To have a debris box picked up prior to the end of the rental period, simply call the company and request a pick-up.
