Dumpster Rental Tips for Baltimore, MD
Do I need a permit to park a dumpster on a city street?
To place a dumpster on a city street, you’ll need to obtain a right-of-way permit from the city. This isn’t the case if you're placing the dumpster on your private property. However, you are still required by law to keep the area free and clear of debris and generally kept clean. Talk to your dumpster rental company about permitting requirements and whether or not you’ll need to obtain one in your situation.
Which dumpster size should I rent?
The most common dumpster sizes include 10 yard, 20 yard, 30 yard, and 40 yard containers. The type of debris you have and the amount of debris will be the most important factors in your decision. When renting a dumpster, do not underestimate the amount of debris your project will generate. If you’re ever on the fence about which container size to choose, go with the larger option. The upfront cost may be slightly more, but renting a larger dumpster could reduce the total cost of disposal in the end.
How much does it cost to rent a temporary dumpster?
The average cost to rent a dumpster in the U.S. falls between $250 and $750, depending on size, debris, location, and more. Make sure you are aware of the various fees you can incur when renting a dumpster, too.
Dumpster rental companies can add on fees for a number of reasons, including:
- Keeping the dumpster longer than the originally agreed upon time
- Going over the container’s designated weight limit
- Putting hazardous materials in the dumpster
