About Commercial Disposal Service in New York City, NY

How to choose the ideal trash container for your business?

Your commercial garbage company may offer a range of bin sizes, and below you’ll find examples of the most commonly available capacities (dimensions can vary):

  • 2 cubic yard box – 3 ft. L x 6 ft. W x 3 ft. H
  • 3 cubic yard box -- 4 ft. L x 6 ft. W x 4 ft. H
  • 4 cubic yard box -- 4 ft. L x 6 ft. W x 5 ft. H
  • 6 cubic yard box -- 5 ft. L x 6 ft. W x 5 ft. H
  • 8 cubic yard box – 5.5 ft. L x 6 ft. W x 6.5 ft. H

The trash dumpster may have an angled opening or a flat top depending upon what’s in stock. Some garbage haulers offer both options. Make sure to measure your dumpster bay to ensure the new container will fit inside.

Estimate the volume of waste your building will, or does, produce. For reference, 2 cubic yards is approximately equal to the volume taken up by a standard refrigerator. Use this example to help you choose the ideal container size.
